Hi I noticed that Tractor supply is selling crushed oyster shells as a chicken food additive. Will these prove the chitosin ( hope I spelled it right) to encourage soil mycro- etc. growth?

oyster shells are high in calcium, but they will raise your Ph really high. Don't use them. I learned the hard way

In acidic soil using a moderate amount of oyster shell meal has worked for me. I've used them in my garden for over 8 years and never had a problem. In that time my pH has gone from 6.3 to 6.7,, They will slowly raise your pH for a couple years so be careful of adding too many.
