just curious when everyone else is starting their seeds this year. last year i started mine earlier than normal for myself on 4-19. it worked out good due to the cold wet spring. the plants were pollinated between june 23rd and july 3rd which is my ideal window when many others' plants were behind a little. i see a stretch on the horizon here this spring where night time temps will be in low 30s for a bit yet. i will be countering this by getting my greenhouses up over my planting spots by 4-8, or 3 weeks prior to transplant to activate the soil. i am starting my plants on 4-20 this year and they should be in the ground by 4-29 inside greenhouses with space heaters.

That should work. I put my green houses up two weeks prior to planting. That's plenty of time to warm the soil and test the green house construction.I will be starting the same time with basically the same seeds. Let the games begin!

Delaying a little, not going to try for Iowa State Fair or Indianapolis... very long back story to it. Have to recount.

Shaz! Around April 29Th is when I will try to start my seeds, I hope to have plants in the ground before the roots hit the bottom of my pot or as soon as I can barley see first true leaf starting, hopefully they will be in the ground by the 5Th of May. Im gonna try to have my hoops up a week or so earlier this year like you guys are, last couple years the rain delayed the times I wanted my plants to go in the ground,so this way Ill be planting in dry soil just in case it has been raining and the soil is still wet. I think by having the soil warm with the hoops it should help me in keeping the seed corn maggots at bay some what. They say seed corn maggots thrive in wet colder soil.Last year was the first time I ever had them nasty boogers.

Soon, when seeds get strong they hit the ground. Maybe 2 weeks?
