I only added bone/blood meal. Last year I was a more-on and over did it. My soil test is excellent except for OM which was way too high. In two weeks or so I'll probably add 100lbs alfalfa pellets and that's it. I figure with a good regimen of soil drenches every 10 days or so and a mid season soil test, I can get to where I need to be.
* the drench is a combination of molasses, calmax and humic acid.

My patch only had leaves added last fall. I haven't done any soil tests. I just know that this garden area grew some awesome tomato plants last year....the plants had very thick foliage and good fruit production. I'm using my best garden area for giant pumpkins this year.

Andy, just curious, how high was your OM? Once I got to 24% I stopped annual cow poop additions and shredded leaves.
Thanks,
Duff

Duff, mine was in the low 30% range back in the fall. No doubt from the 100+ bags of leaves I added. Sucked a lot of the nitrogen out of the soil. Live and learn I guess. Should be pretty good this season.
