Has anybody seen the Bayer T&S 1.47% Implorid this year in the stores? I have been looking for it this year and all I am seeing is the Bayer T&S that is around .71% Implorid and mixed with a topical pesticide, they call it two way action...

Last year I had no problem finding the 1.47& Bayer T&S.

Any sightings out there?

Thanks

Thanks for the spottings!!

The active ingredient in that product is "Imidacloprid". What exactly are you wanting to treat in an herbaceous plant that is an annual and has about 5 months of "life" in the ground ? Why complicate your soil with exotic chemicals.

Have you considered releasing beneficial nematodes in the immediate soil location where your pumpkin vines will be planted, once there is adequate warmth in the days, and let those guys kill off the eggs and larvae of whatever other insects you anticipate....and avoid the Bayer T & S ? After all, how does a pumpkin vine fall into the category of "tree or shrub", which are considered "woody" plants ?

Tomato Man...loose a season to Squash Vine Bores and I am sure you will be singing a different tune. A vine does not fall into the category, it is the same active ingedient commercial pumpkin growers use, readily available. The Eggs of a Squash Vine Borer are laid on the leaves than hatch and crawl down the stem to the main vine. They then eat the inside of your vine out ending your season.

I agree, and at 6840ft. of elevation and living in a proverbial high-plains desert environment with dry air and little natural rain....the SVB is not as much of a threat as it might be for others.

Which begs a silly kind of question, though,.....which came first, the adult SVB or the egg (of a SVB)? Those new eggs for 2009 will be laid by adults who spent the winter months...where ? Kill the adults and you stop them from producing more eggs. I understand that completely. What is the total average lifespan of a SVB ? Can they live for several years as adults and until they expire ? Or, are some eggs deposited in the soils as fall and winter come on, and it is these eggs which hatch in spring warmth, exist as a larve for a while, and then start walking on vines as adults anxious to lay more eggs there ?

We need more borderline enforcement to stop adult SVB's from entering people's yards and gardens. Unless the eggs were already there all along. I can not say that I have had SVB experiences.....and I hope that I never will.

The active ingredient is Imidocloprid.

Bonide is selling a product with the same active ingredient, same concentration and lower price.

Tomato Man, the way it sounds you are running a fully organic show over there. up in Colorado, from what I hear it is much easier to do. I use the Bayer T&S as systemic because that is part of what is working for other is my area. If you have a fully organic pesticide program that will work for us out here I am open ears!! Please list the products used, where to get them, and how to apply them.

I am aware of the spelling, that is my way of abbreviating it (Implorid).
