I was just looking at the pumpkin cam on the message board. It sure seems like a good idea, I don't have a camera set up to do it or I would. We could be able to watch day to day progress, especially helpful to the new person. Still seems like a good idea even though I havce never watched one grow on the pumpkin cam.

I looked into it last year, but it was a lot more complicated (and expensive) than I thought it would be. Vince Zunino is the one to talk to if you're really serious about doing it right.

I might set one up this year to keep an eye on things. I have motion detection software that starts recording the instant something moves. Can't wait to catch those pumpkins goofin' off..... The video stream is available over the internet with pan/tilt/zoom capability and sound so you can zoom on me scratching my ass or hear me swearing at the gopers...

Well, that is a good question. Its a full color, fairly decent resolution camera. I hooked it up to a tv capture card on an pc I had, streamed it from a web cam program.

I can definitely hook it up again, the problem is I may not grow a plant at home. I have space for 12 at a pumpkin farm and 2 at the second patch I used last year. Also, maybe 2-4 behind my parents house....so with the drainage problems I had, and the amount of shade I get, it may not be worth it. Plus I won't have to spray anything at home...with the new baby and all.

So not sure. I think what is more likely is that I have a watermelon cam, since I will be doing one of those at home......

I am seriously considering various monitoring for mine that 'fink' to the house controller via low power radio. And a Cam so I can check what's going on without having to get up and get dressed and go stagger out at 2 am... so... a growcam, I'll let you know very shortly. I hit dirt 4 April in the hoop...
