I saw that pumpkin at Elk Grove myself Ron, didnt see it weighed,,asked around but never found the grower of it,,it was just as red in person, quite a fruit.

I found the results so i'm guessing it's one of them in the 500-600 lb range

Joe,
Thanks for the input, but the pumpkin I linked pics to were from the 2008 Elk Grove weighoff(I'm guessing the one Ron posted is from 2008 as well).
The pumpkin you linked pics to is from Half Moon Bay 2006.

Paul Rys was working on this strain 3 years ago, he said he would give me seeds, the deals was, I had to grow them 500 feet from any other Giant pumpkins, and I had to give him half the seeds, I think he is a teacher at stanford.

Yes, Paul Rys really has something going there. A few years ago I was really thinking about growing some, but never followed up with it. I do have the ability to fulfill the 500 foot requirement.

I haven't talked to Paul for about a year. He did not attend our California Meeting in Elk Grove last month.
