Just wondering what mil. Clear poly plastic makes the ultimate hoophouse material? 3,4 or 6 mil poly? Thanks Bumkin

Thick... will stand up better. The thicker the better.

I used 4mil and with the winds we had last year, it probably could have been stronger mil, but, I could have constructed the hoop house a little bit more sturdy. I didn't do a very good job, but it served the purpose. Probably 6 mil would be ok, but maybe someone that has used it in extreme winds can tell more.

6 mil and get the UV treated kind, not the cheapo stuff they sell at Wally's World.

6 mil is thicker. what is the light transparency? how much light do you want? do you 50% light? 75% light transparency? 6 mil might cut out a lot of light.

It seems to reduce the light in a very minor way, certainly less than 5%, but , the only thing I have to do on a twice yearly basis is to wash the exterior from top to bottom as a green slime/moss type growth always tries to take over. Nature doing its thing. I use no chemicals, just a water powerhase.
