Any experiences with seeds getting somewhat "cooked" with the baby warmer method for germination? I have tried two seperate methods.....In both cases, I have utilized the "foam sponge" on the bottom....then seeds which were sanded and wrapped in a damp paper towel.... Some of these (the whiter seeds)appear to have cooked to the point where there is some brown residue on the paper towels.....(been about 30 hours)...Witnessing this, I decided it was too close to the heat source, but kept them in there anyways and then added a face cloth on top. Inside the face cloth I have wrapped another couple seeds inside a damp paper towel (my second method). Even these "white" seeds are getting somewhat cooked looking....I have a remote thermometer set up which reads approx. 85 degrees with a humidity level of about 33%. Any thoughts?

I think you may need to use a controller to maintain the right temp. The warmer may also be operating at a higher temp than your thermometer is showing. I would check with a separate thrometer to verify the operating temp.

Rooster, the brown is comeing from the seed shell NOT THE HEAT. However if you leave the top close it can heat up to 95 degrees, so keep the bottem moist with the sponge and prop the lib half way open, if you have a thermometer it would help. Call me if I can help. Chris

I've cooked seeds - mostly on the cable box but once on the very keyboard I'm typing this on.
87-90*F is ideal for most AG seeds.

Mine has a crack that the wipes feed thru. I just pry that open a bit to let the excess heat vent. Keep a thermometer inside for fine tuning.
