I admit, growing AG had become a bit boring and predictable. Just more of the same butt ugly and toxic waste looking. However, with all the monster genetics, both beauty and weight, it's hard not to be as excited as a little kid about growing them now. Doug 14 grew a Muller that was "wow" just to start the list. A lot sure has changed in 5 years.

My first two years have been fun, even though both seasons were cut short. My wife wants nothing to do with it, but my three year old son loved to go to the "Punkin Patch" every day last year. I hope it is something we can do together for many years. -Jeremy

Fun definitely! Plus I get to meet many great competitive and at the same time friendly, info/seed sharing growers. The best of two worlds!

When it stops being fun, I stop growing. Besides, I still have a couple goals to reach.

It is amazing, a seed the size of a quarter 3 months later could grow to weigh 1600 pounds, as much as a volkswagon. My wife says she don't mind, it keeps me from other woman around.

It's a blast - but very time consuming. Because I have limited space, I won't be growing every year. I think the most important lesson I've learn growing is: in order to get sound competition sized fruit, you need to rotate your crops and give your dirt a rest from pumpkins. I hope to retire someday and purchase 5 to 10 acres of primo sandy loam. I will then become a fulltime pumpkin grower:)
