Doc Liggett grew his 1524 in less than600 sq ft. also he has grown a few over 1300 in the same small patch. all off the 664 . that seed just seems to do well in small patchs

I believe Jeff Zoellner's 1015 was grown on a 250 square foot flag pattern. (Quite a remarkable feat) The seed it was grown off was the 384 Huffer. (I think that the 384's mother was a 664 Liggett.

A little over 400 sq. feet 1,537#'s and it was the 4th year in the same spot. So much for rotating and small plant size, Doc Liggett and Thad Starr have also gone over 1,500#'s with less than 500 square foot of plant.
I would say get in the ball game you have plenty of room to go over 1,000#'s.

This is one my kids grew last year. It was grown off the Frantz 07 Cross (1097 x 1370) x 1450.
It was grown in the grass utility easement behind my house and was between 200-300 sq ft. No soil amendments and was neglected (atleast to our normal standards) for most of the season. It just grew slow and steady all season like the pollinating 1450 plant did for us the year before. I am shocked that the kids got it to 760 lbs!!!! It was pollinated by 1566.
I considered taking the 09' season off but now plan to grow 1 squash plant and a 760 Ashley/Austin Frantz.
PEEP, 500 lbs in 300 sqft of space can be done, go for it!

I shared this story a few times, in 05, had a 400 sq foot patch, but lost my stump and surrounding secondaries to rot before even polinating. The plant went down to 250 sq foot and I grew a fruit to 950 estimated with it splitting. It went light to the charts at 861, but it had another 200 lbs easy if it didn't split. So, even without a stump you could possibly do it on a small plant!

1524.5 Ligget gorwn in 430 sq/ft is one of the most incredible feats this sport/hobby has ever seen.
It could only be topped by Ligget hiself with a 1353.5 lb pumpkin in just 300 Sq/ft!!! Thats 4.51 pounds of pumpkin for every sq/ft of space. To put that into prespective, if it had been grown in an average size patch of 600 dq/ft would have yielded Bob a 2706 pound pumpkin. (theroritcally of course.)
1368 Ligget in 475 sq/ft, 1280 Ligget in 480 sq/ft and many more.
Bob Liggets pumpkins are amazing to me.

I grew my 1180 in about 280sq.ft but it was more luck than anything, if 280sq.ft worked good, 400sq.ft. would be better!

Sleeping til noon DAMN your missing good pumpkin tending time.
Pollintations should be done Early in the AM.
Get in the habbit of getting up early working in the garden/patch then go inside and clean the house for your mother. so when she gets home she wont have to work so hard.

Don't forget that Dr. Bob's 1375 last year was grown on a secondary vine after a hail storm decimated his patch.

Even with a small patch, you might be able to let the early secondaries go long, even after they reach the edge of the patch let them climb over the fence or go onto the grass. They may not root out that far, but certainly that will give you more leaf area for photosynthesis. One of the growers here in the cool Northwest swears by this system, tho I've not tried it.

If I can get to almost 400 on 150 square feet without a stump, you should have no problem.
