I have been using 6 mil frosted plastic. Would using 4 mil
clear plastic be better for the plants since they are getting a stronger amount of rays from the sun? I like the studiness of the 6 mil, but just wondering which is better for growing purposes?

I have always used 6mil as it holds in heat better and stands up to the elements longer I think.

It's really a matter of wind. If you don't have strong winds, or if you have good wind blockers, you might get by with 4 mil. I have used both, and they both are quickly torn to shreds in the winds I see.

In recent years I have resorted to constructing barriers with wood pallets around each HH, and this helps a LOT.

Depends completely on the clarity.

4 mil blurry stuff is not as good as 6 mill clear stuff

I'm going with Nursery Grade plastic for hoop houses this season after a recent discussion with Robert Demers, nursery owner. I now think the 6mil construction grade plastic filters out too much light. Good luck Mark

We get too much wind, always use 6 mil. Have gown over 1100# with 6 mil in the spring and again in the fall for late season protection.
