How many days, weeks do you need to make your planting holes before planting time?

usually we dig our holes a couple weeks before putting out the plants.
we dont make any nutrient pits , its already in our soil.
we just dig the hole early enough to help the soil warm up,

I use a specially designed fork that loosens the soil in the planting area. Sort of like a broadfork would do.

Dick, how big are your planting holes, depth. and cir? if i may ask. i have often found the stump, or crown roots far exceed my past pits.
