So let's just say you had to choose. . . 1161 or 1566 Rodonis? 1385.5 or 1689 Jutras?

These are the kind of questions that can keep a person up at night. I've had the same 1161 vs 1566 question. Where I have landed is that the 1566 is the safer but not necessarily the better bet. The 1161 has had impressive numbers but only two pumpkins. The 1566 has had 17 progency go to scale with over 60% of them over 1,000 pounds. That is very impressive. I definetly wouldn't say the 1161 is unproven, but the 1566 has gone bigger and gone big more often to this point.

Erin, do what I do, ask Quinn,,,lol, hes makes my decisions very easy when it comes to hard decisions like this,,LOL
Im growing both the 1161 and 1566, and also the 1385, but to choose from those seeds would be really hard. I think it would be just as easy to throw them in a hat and grow the first one you pull out,lol
I tell you the seed you really need to grow and thats the 1313 Bowels,,lol Ain't that right Dan?

Erin, if your soil is right.ANY seed with good genetics in it will preform. Marc and I chased some big name seeds back in 2008 and both were out preformed by locally grown seeds hands down. All I am trying to say is don't sweat the details.make your soil your biggest concern. Also back up plants are just as important. If i recall right our biggest in 2008 (1370#) came off a back up after the primary came out and blew out it's main vine. and back in 2004 the same thing. the 1097 beachy we grew was not intended to be kept but was and ended up 1432. So as you can see sometimes those back up plants are important choices also just my toughts DAN

Erin, I am sure you have a scoreboard goin, but here's my count so far...1161 3 1566 3 1385 9 1689 3 1312+1 1 not counting Arvada, who never decided, but knowing your attitude about being safe, I would guess that would be another vote for the 1161, also not sure what peep voted for (1156?) Hope this helps...clear as mud now?? LOL Peace, Wayne

1161 and 1385 is what I would choose. In fact I am growing both this year along with the 985 Werner and 1258 Dwelly. But all of them are real good ones.

I would have to go with the 1385, for it's first year out the numbers it put up are amazing. And I would pick the 1161 over the 1566 not because of the 1521.5 that I grew from the 1161 but from what the 1521.5 looked like inside the pumpkin when I opened it up, there were no dill rings or cracks inside.

Matt you have my line up just replace the Dwelly with the 1502 and that's what I'm going with. Watch out!
