has any one ever done or thought of puting a electric blanket on their pumpkin to keep it warm, if so what kinda results did you see. If not, would it increase the pumpkis gorwth.

I know someone who did it. Wires somehow shorted out and fried the pumpkin.

If your talking about fall. Will stop growth, two of us in NH tried it in 2005. Didn't work for us.

'baked pumpkin pie already in the shell' ... doesn't work. Best bet is to go to rummage sales or thrift store and get some old blankets to cover them, and tarps to keep that dry/the dew off them. Get extras so you can take damp ones off and hang them to dry (or run through dryer) I've used 'dead element' old electric blankets as covers, NOT plugged in.

I tried it and no damage done to my pumpkin but also don't know that it did much good either

I have used it over hoops to keep the young plants warm a couple of times when we had late spring dips in temperatures. Worked fine. Really hard to find electric blankets that time of year though.
