As someone of you guys know I study international marketing, event marketing etc. on HAAGA-HELIA University of applied sciences. My final year has started and unlike other students Im not making marketing thesis for local grocery store.

Inspired by PAP´s fishing from the same pond thread I come up that there will be some demand in SURVEY of weigh-offs fundraising. I have got green light for this from mentor teachers and im building up ideas of survey. Part of my thesis will also be our weigh-off this Sept. which is held under GPC.

What I have thinked about survey is something like this:

-why you grow
-how you get started(years of growing)
-country/state
-pb´s
-why you go to weigh-offs(pricestructure,meeting fellow growers etc.)
-what kind of price structure you find best
-how weigh-off sites should raise funds
etc. etc.

Im open to any ideas what should be asked. Im planning to send Survey via Club Presidents so as many as possible growers could answer. Also post here when survey is ready to be answered so folks can get it direct from me by e-mail.

Results will be open to everyone when they are ready, to clubs and for individual growers as well. Global economic crisis will effect on this sport too so its actual time to make this kind of Survey right now,IMHO.

Please, let me know what you think about this.

or write your ideas to this thread.

Thank you very much.

Forgot to say that with this Survey we can see what the field of growers are thinking of weigh-offs and other things. This may or may not help Clubs to plan their future events. Also we will see if there is different way of thinking depending if you are from USA/CANADA/EUROPE and if you have grown 1500 pounder or example 500 pounder.

If you are writing a thesis, then this implies you have a thesis statement- which is essentially a succinct way of stating what "problem" you are investigating and the goal of your research. Perhaps if you could describe the purpose of your investigation, we can more effectively contribute to your efforts.

Joze,

Im going to have "orientating for thesis writing course" which starts tomorrow and takes about 2 months. If I have statement ready by coming Thursday Im able to start to make that survey form. practically no one in Finland knows nothing about this sport and its up to me what problem Im going to investigate.

I have grown two years and starting my 3 on April. I have seen some changes, fundraising for some clubs have got harder etc.

As i said Im open to any ideas what to investigate. However I feel that investigating weigh-offs,what growing community feels most inportant things on weigh-offs and what directions they want weigh-offs to develope is best way to make thesis. Also what things in current weigh-offs are good/is there something that needs to be changed.

I would need on my first post mentioned personal details so that I can divide growers to groups to see if there is different wants/needs depending where you live or whats your Pb´s etc.

I am not asking that anyone else makes my thesis, I could easily make that survey form by my own but then it might be as useful to growers as possible. I am asking some input from growers community for what to ask and investigate so that this thesis could be useful to all groups and clubs to develope their functions.

Kind of hard to explain, I hope I clarify this at least little now.

I would also like to see if there is such thing as "home weigh-off" where you bring your best fruit always if there is price moneys or not or if price moneys goes lower than in other weigh-offs near that one. Results would tell you quite easy is it very important have biggest price moneys on your area or does growers show up because its their home weigh-off and they have always been there.
