Following our recent auction we received one hateful email from a purchaser who was upset about how we communicated after the auction. Three comments:

These auctions are run by volunteers and amateurs who are trying to help their local clubs. They are not perfect, just as you are not perfect. Simple mistakes can and do happen.

Before complaining, make sure your concern is indeed true and valid.

Please be civil and nice. This is a hobby and should be fun for all. To be rude only speaks to your inadequate personality. In other words, remember the Golden Rule.

I support the above comments. In general most auctions are very well run and organized by all groups and clubs. Mistakes do happen, patience is always a good virtue.

I agree also. If a person that has never put together an auction wants to complain, they should see what it takes to put one together. I spend countless ours sending emails and bubbles to put together our auction. I do it for the good of the club and nothing else. Things happen during auctions that are uncontrollable. It is very easy to work things out by email or phone after an auction is over. Clubs put the best interest of the growers 1st. If someone is unhappy we try to make it right for the grower. Patience and understanding helps the situation better than insults and aggravation. just my 2 cents

You only have to look at a lot that I bid on in the GPC auction to see what length the auctioneers go to to make things good. PhilH did a great job and with a bit of help everyone was happy!

Until someone has run an auction from promotion, sought donations, hosted the auction, collected the winners emails, collected all the checks, waited for the checks to clear, & mailed out the seeds - they will never truly appreciate the hard work that clubs engage in to be successful.

We can't make everybody happy regardless how hard we try.
