Greetings everyone and Happy New Year!! I'm putting together my seed envelopes and was wondering......one of my pumpkins was weighed at a non-GPC site (don't know if the scale was certified). Does that make the 'kin a UOW? Thanks in advance!! Michelle

NO! Ask the grower to be sure but it does not have to be weighed at a GPC site to be official.

autumn-leaf,its official(as far as seed labeling goes) if it was weighed on a scale that weighs down to the pound.

Autumn...in my opinion....if it was a "real" weigh-off the weight is good to go. The weights that I don't feel are official would be done on bathroom scales...in-line scales at home (unless certified and witnessed),etc...

I believe that, in order for the weight to be official and, therefore, recognized by the GPC, that the scale has to be certified regardless as to whether it is a GPC site or not. There must also be witnesses. Otherwise, it is UOW.

It was a real enough weigh-off...the largest was 1100+ lbs. and there were many witnesses!! Just not a GPC site...and the scale went to the nearest .5 lb. Cool! Thanks everyone!!

Hi!! I'm sorry about the email mixup...I'm not the most computer savvy person!lol! Um, Cindi, you should have mail (I hope) and Mari Lou, I'm just about to send one out to you and Joel. Chrisy, thank you so much for your kind words!! The Wizard of Oz float was sponsored by Bayer Advanced (yes, the folks who make the tree and shrub stuff!) and I googled them and found a few pics and stuff. Also Phoenix Decorating Co. has photos of the renderings. I wish I could paste the links up here!!
Again, Happy New Year!!and I look forward to seeing all of your pumpkin successes this season!
