You guys talked me into growing the 901 Hunt next year, Im sure gonna take a good crack at it anyway.
I was going to grow one of my own seeds next year, but my seeds can wait until the following year to see dirt,,lol,

Here I go changing my mind again,,, and I promised myself I wasn't gonna do that this year! ha!
Go with your first instincts they always say, and the 901 has been on my list to grow for a couple years now.

If you plan on growing the 901 and dont have one, Id look for one now, because it doesnt seem like the 901 has been planted very much in the past, so there is still some to be found. I bet after next year that seed is going to be alot harder to find.

How many of you guys/gals plan on growing this seed next year?

Thanks Glenn, yea I have two of them! I got em off Phil the year he grew it. I was going to grow it that same year but seed plans changed my mind back then,lol

Brooks...... you should try to give her 550 sq feet to 675 sq feet. Smaller plants help the pumpkins get bigger faster. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Hey guys

Thank you very much for considering our 901. I still get chills thinking what it could have done if it held together. We partly blame ourselves for the split because we were away for 2 weeks in mid Aug. Our plant was @ 700-750 sq ft, with a main @ 30' & the secondaries were 12'. The plant was almost 20' long by the 1st of July (pumpkin was pollinated June 30th), which is awesome for us. They are usually @ 8-10' at that date. All plant growth except for the main vine was terminate by the 3rd week in July. By Aug 4th, it was just over 600# & never really slowed down until a week after it split(@ Aug. 22), when the growth slowed down to nothing. We waited a week before cutting it up (Aug 31st) so Russ could come over for a look. I didn't think anyone would believe we had a pumpkin that big (1269#)at the end of Aug unless I had a witness. ;o). We took pictures & cut it up. There was no way to weigh it, so we went by the tape & recorded the estimate.

It will be our #1 plant next year, along with the 998 Pukos, our 1156 (1631.5 x 1689) & maybe one other. Good luck to all that try it. Email me if you have any questions. Check out the picture (on the GVGO Photo Gallery) Russ took of the 1269 Hunt a few days before we harvested the seeds.

Glenn!! or Phill, I looked in my seeds, and I dont have a 901 Hunt! Phill sent me 2 seeds of his 926 Hunt( 1097 x 842) back in 2004, or 2005, so hold onto one of them seeds for me!,lol

Brooks, I have few left. I can't remember if we traded seeds last year, so I looked around & couldn't find one of your 1402's, so I guess we didn't. Send me a BP & I'll make sure you get a 901, along with some from this year.
