Are there any 801.5 Stelts seeds left out there? Or does anyone have a clone going that has produced a nice orange pumpkin?

I would like to do a 772.2 Poirier x 801.5 Stelts cross. Are there any long time growers out there that might be able to help me out?

Pete,

That cross would (should) be very orange. Last year, Danny Dill mentioned that Skip Simpson's 810.5 Stelts crosses may be the last.

If a grower doesn't have one for you or a clone, the 801.5 was the female of a handful1 of nice orange pumpkins. They include:
1,038 Simpson '07
1,036 Companion '03
1,074 Calai '02

This isn't what you are looking for Pete, but if you are interested in my 755 you can have a seed. I only have two left. I don't have any genetic background on it but Scherber thought it had Stelts in it because it had the nice orange color with the light orange/yellow spackling.

Hi Pete. Looks to me like Shannon's clone is as close to the real thing out there. You may want to jump on that as the 1049 Koch was a beauty! Good luck.

i tried saving a cutting, but the plant didn't want to put any energy into tertiaries. i tried to save a couple little ones, but they didn't make it.

i'm not sure how well the offspring will hold onto the blaze orange, but check my diary to see if there's anything that interests you.

if you're looking for direct 801 genes, go with either shannon's seed or the 691 nesbitt.

Another to consider the 1008.4 Reiss(801.5 Reiss X self). It went over 9% heavy.
