I received an e-mail to fill out a pumpkin survey. I do not know or recognize the sender. Did anyone else get such an e-mail?

I just filled it out.
Didn't give it a second thought, they were the RIGHT questions to ask only someone genuine would ask those.

it would have only been the polite thing to do to send a brief cover letter along with the survey. that way the person receiving the survey knows who is requesting it and leaves no questions.

Arvadaboy on BP by the looks of it.

Still can't see anything wrong here.

I didn't hesitate either. Received suspicious e-mails in the past but this one didn't raise any red flags. Pap is right, that a short preamble by the sender would have clarified things. Completed the survey two hours ago and sent it, computer is working fine.

It's from a guy that runs a wedding webpage site????

I had my computer flake out when I tried to pull his website. If someone knows who he is.... that's different...

I got it also. I agree it should have had an short intro. Guess he got our emails from the diaries..Dont much care for that kind of way. Altho I do enjoy recieving emails from other growers, I wonder how long it took him to send emails to everyone? A message here asking for input would have been much more polite.

Guys,

It's Jamie Johnson (arvadaboy). He's a new grower out here in Colorado, and he grew a really nice pumpkin this year. I'm sure he would appreciate it if you fill it out.

Yes, it was me that sent out the survey. Sorry for any confusion. You forget that although you may browse and post on bp.com all the time that people might not know who you are by your real name. lol

The survey results will be used for informational purposes only. Your names, emails or specific answers will not be shared in the results. What will be shared back to those of you who take the survey is the culmative results of the survey (for example, 82% of growers with PB over 1,000 pounds used seaweed fertilizer).

If you would like to participate in the survey you can go to www.wedpagedesigns.com/pumpkinsurvey.html. Those who participate in the survey will get a survey results summary once it is tabluated. The main purpose of the survey is to gather and share information with growers about AG growing best practices.

Have you ever been to his website Sergio?

Most all of the email addresses came off the public email addresses on bp.com. Not all of them were off the diaries, but sometimes off of message board posts. Some of the emails came from interactions with different growers and emails that they shared with me. My intent with the survey would be to send it out each fall to see what trends develop over time. No intention of spamming anyone or sharing the email list with anyone. What I hope has is that we get some good qualitative and quantitative data developed that can be shared with the group.

I'm never been in his site, Pap, Pete Glassier, Joe Jutras, and Bill Rodonis are the only people that have this e mail address , all other people use my in B.P. diary

I'm confident everything is on the up & up with Jamie's survey. We've emailed back & forth a few times and I met him at the RMGVG weighoff in Littleton.

I say fill out the survey. Some good questions which could reveal some interesting conclusions if lots of people with varied levels of pumpkin growing success participate. I filled it out on his website and prefer that to the email version.

Arvada- the second to last "box" to fill in is not a box, you might want to fix this.

Got it too. I noticed the same thing as Gary, there is a box in there you can't answer the question near the end of the survey. I did answer it figuring it was someone from here.

Jamie doesn't have "name recognition" yet in the Heavy Hitter category, but watch out...he'll be there soon! He made the trip to Topsfield this season from Colorado for the weigh-off...pretty inspired I'd say! Scuze me now...I got a survey to fill out...:-)

For those of you who deleted the email and would still like to fill out the survey, below is the web page for the survey. All the answer boxes work properly on the website, at least they did for me.

After doing some further testing it looks like a couple of email software readers are having some trouble with display of one of the form elements. Ron is correct that if you go to the webpage version the form should work properly. http://www.wedpagedesigns.com/pumpkinsurvey.html

Thanks to everyone taking the time to fill it out! Lots of submissions so far. The more data we can collect the better the results will be. At this point I'm planning on keeping the form open for entries until December 4th. At that point I'll start the process of tabulating the data and expect to send out the results to everyone who participated before December 21st.

I did fill it out after you answered my email about who were you, and I fudged filling with the box or so that wouldn't display.

Next year when we've all forgotten everything about it, add a paragraph or two of who you are (unless you grew yourself into an orange jacket :) ) so we know you're one of us. What threw me was the wedding webpage site as link to/email addy.

Be interesting to know what you get for answers.

I filled it out, but a few of the selection boxes wouldn't select when clicked on. I agree, a response box was missing. When I clicked "submit", nothing happened, so I don't know if my responses were sent. It would be nice to have a confirmation e-mail reply that the questionaire was recieved.
Still, a good idea.
