Peep You can try Lesco to get Gypsum. Everything they have comes in 50 pound bags. The earilier you put it down the more time it has to work. It can take up to 3 years before it is fully effective. Also it is probably too late to put winter rye down now, all you will be doing is feedingthe birds.

Peep, curious...why are you adding gypsum? My local farm store said to spread 1/2 of my 50#'s of rye seed to my 3200 sq. ft. All other info appreciated!! Good luck, and Grow em BIG!!!!!! PS...I picked up 4 40# bags of gypsum today @ $6.99 ea.(Southern States....seed and feed store). I am adding it to help break up my heavy clay soil, and to add calcium...Hope it works!!!!! Peace, Wayne

Peace wayne.....i am adding gypsum because I know it needs it.....I grew some tomatos and had some really bad blossom end rot.....I had read from three books that that meant calciam deficincy....Also on the thing about planting it late I will either put clear plastic over it of till it in real shallow.

If you're adding the gypsum for calcium uptake better off in the spring then now. If your adding it to break up the clay then the earlier the better. Gypsum will help the clay break up but may also leach down through the winter leaving the calcium further down then the plant will reach. OM into the clay and add the gypsum in spring may do you a little better.
