Ok so I haven't been able to find liquid feed grade molasses But I have found it in the dried form.

Has anyone ever used the dried form of feed Grade molasses? If so any tips? Any problems?

The price was $20-25plus tax for a 50 pounds bag. Is this a ok buy?

Can I add watter to the dried stuff and use that mixture on my patch? If so what ratio would be best?

I value any and all imput on this matter.

The dried stuff is usually mixed with a grain casing. Its not the same as the other liquid. You wouldnt be able to just add water to it.

Kenny is right, the dried molasses needs something to be dried on which is OK for adding organic matter but could not be disolved for spraying.

In this case, it is soy-bean hulls that are used.

CCW , you dont have a feed mill near you ? I dont know of any grind mills that dont carry wet molasses, ask your closest farmer that raises beef cattle, check phone book for feed mills. you may also call your county Ag agency maybe they can help find grind mills in your area.

I've used the dried molasses the last 2 or 3 years. I scatter out a 2 lb butter container of dried molasses per 500 ft and then water it in with an overhead sprinkler about every 7 to 10 days for a few weeks before planting time. It also gets mixed in with the compost I use as mulch for the plants....about a handful for every 5 gallon bucket of compost.

I found blackstrap molasses at an organic food store called Mountain Mamas here in the Springs. Boulder must have at least a dozen such stores. I'd call them and enquire.

We've found that individual buckets of molasses are pretty much all that's available in our area. They can get pretty expensive, unfortunately. A bucket that's probably about four gallons runs anywhere from $35 - $40.

I did find one feed mill that handles liquid molasses in our area, but...

I told the receptionist that we wanted maybe 100 lbs. at a time and she laughed and said that they only sell it by the ton. That's a lot of molasses...

Zemmie, take a walk back into the dusty part of yer local feed mill....w/a 5 gallon container. Ask the guy who is back there workin real hard, if he could fill up yer container!!! It works here in Kentucky!!! A $5 or $10 bill might help!!! Peace, Wayne
