Shaker, This is true, they do love it ON ONE CONDITION. You clean the inside and cut up the pumpkin in chucks. The most important thing you can do if you are feeding pumpkins to your herd is to freeze your pumpkin pieces first, before you feed it to them. Then when you plan on feeding, run the frozen pieces under warm water to unthaw and then bury the pieces in your bin. Bury and freezing will cut down on pest and fruit flies you don't want in you bin. Hope this helps

I puree or grate, then add. My worms are too small for chunks. They do love it.

seems like too much work, just bury in your pile to keep flys away

I just started a compost bin & added a couple pumpkins. I just cut them up and buried them in the bin.

Tarps, you are right however a compost bin and worm bin are two very different things. But once again they are very good as a "green" for you pile. 1320 there is no need to grate or puree the pumpkin 1)Pumpkins are mostly 85% water like most mellons and by puree them up creates a very wet and damp bin. 2) Worms don't really eat the pumpkin pieces they are after the microbs breaking down the pumpkins, it reallly does't matter how small your worms are they all pretty much eat the same things. Don't get me wrong your style will work but it really it not nessesary, like gary said bury em and watch the herd dive in.
