Hello, I am a student at Providence College in Rhode Island. I am writing a paper on giant pumpkins for a journalism class and I was wondering if anyone who is a giant pumpkin farmer would be willing to do a phone interview with me about Giant Pumpkin growing?!? I just recently attended a Giant Pumpkin weigh-off in my home town and it sparked my interest. If anyones interested in helping me out please contact me back as soon as possible with your decision I'd greatly appreciate it!

David, Good place to look. I would recommend a date with the pumpkin,shack and even better, a date with Susan Warren's book "Backyard Giants." Frank knows everyone and is now an established grower in RI. Please contact the SNGPG. You have a plethora of knowledge at your fingertips along with a great group of people. Ron Wallace and Joe Jutras are World Record holders. PAP is an open book. Don Langevin wrote "How to Grow Giant Pumpkins I, II, III. If you strike out, contact me at [email protected]. Great sport, great people. Look for Steve Connoly on this site for more information than you can ever handle. He is a great grower and better mentor.

I agree about Rob's post, Backyard Giants will tell you a lot. And get ahold of all those people he mentions. Another one is Lords of the Gourd, if you can find it, watch it.
