Hi all, this year was the best time ever, no big fruit for me but still took part in it all. The same as any other year, talked with some great growers, I got to know some new growers, see some great fruits, see a great family event take place, and most of all,,, many many people that turned out to see the bigs ones weighed in... I guess my dad was right "This pumpkin growing thing really seems to bring people together" So what was your weigh in all about??

we had a fantastic time at the sngpg weigh-off, frerichs farm in warren r.i.
the days events kicked off with a kids giveaway of an assortment of halloween goodies -masks-hats-glow sticks-etc.
to see all those kids bull rush the table was a great sight.
we also gave a printed sweat shirt to all competitors.

the oaf also presented mid-weight embroidered jackets to two disabled young men that have frequented our weigh off for several years.

the weigh-off was attended by over 2,500 people. we had an o.a.f. 50/50 raffle and a very solid group of pumpkin,green squash and long gourd competitors. over 45 in a bad growing year.

Midway, UT

It was just plain and simple fun. We had great weather and the media exposure drew some big crowds for a third year event (I think about 2,500 people in attendance just for the weigh-off). It is great to see growers and grow relationships with people that you don't get to see as ofter as you like. My favorite thing about the event was getting the chance to talk to people who hadn't seen the giants before and answer their questions. The kids are the best!

Western NY

Like usual, we did a bit of traveling this year - 6 weighoffs. 2 of which I had never been to before, 2 others just going as a spectator. Got to meet a few new folks, and had a blast with the usual crew. Less than 11 months to go and making the rounds again!
