After my pumpkin starts rotting how do you get rid of it? Should I till the pumpkin back into the ground? or will that create alot of disease probems next year?

I find that worms love to eat decomposing pumpkins....and patches love worms....so I cut mine up in smaller pieces.....flesh side down into the dirt...check it out in a week or two....you will be surprized on the amount of worms....eating....soon enough it will be devoured....skins get tossed later on....they can be a bit smelly when they get mushy.....I try not to step in it but I usually do........lol

Mine usually go on a garden spot where I will be frowing something else, like tomatoes or sweet corn. Too many good nutrients in those pumpkins to waste.

Thanks for asking that question, I had the same one. Now I know what to do with it. I was loading the cut up pumpkin in my wagon and taking out of the garden..no more. Thanks, Croley Bend
