The biggest day of the year is tomorrow. Good luck to eveyone!!!
Here are some tips for site coordinators, club members & growers.
SAFETY FIRST!!! Be careful. Crowds, trucks, backs, forklifts, children, excited growers, etc. Pumpkins are heavy & round enough to be a hazard if we don't handle them safely.
RESULTS: Please get results posted here at BigP as soon as possible. The growers deserve timely recognition. The BigP community also wants to know what's going on. Don't worry about placing all of the OTT data right away. Ken assures us the portal will remain open a few days to fill in parentage & measurement details but we want to get the final placement results posted ASAP.
COLOR AWARDS: When in doubt read the rules again. ALL Green, Blue or Gray = Squash. Everything else = Pumpkin. Take clear pictures from ALL sides.
PICTURES: More are better. Fill the frame with smiles. It's not just about pumpkins. It's the growers, their families, kids, spectators, sponsors, etc. Try to capture the surprised looks, smiles, laughs, etc. The human element is huge. I'll mail blank CDs to anyone in need.

Records are made to be broken. Memories are forever. Be safe, have fun & enjoy the fellowship of friends new & old!

Thanks Steve. As the "official photographer", this advice will help tomorrow and Wednesday.

Cool. Please forward pictures my way if you can. My son made that YouTube video as well as the piece we presented at Niagara in March. He'll have a new computer to go with his new advanced video editing software so I too will be shooting stills & video like mad tomorrow. Frerichs promises to please.
Best wishes!
