I just wanted some new ideas after all of this years crosses, next year might be my last year for a while so I was looking for 2 or 3 good plants that would also grow giants and cross well with the 664. Here are a few I found that i kind of like, 1500.5 Revier- 985X1207, Pollinator produced a 1428 lb that was 10% heavy
1011 Reiss- 998X1041.5, Pollinator produced a 1299 lb that was 5.4% heavy
1244 Burgess- 1446 Werner X Same, Missouri State record, where I'm from.

If I were ever so fortunate to get a 664 Liggett I would consider crossing it both ways with a 1287 Van Kooten( 1142 Van Kooten x 1097 Beachy). The 1287 is a fast grower, ask Brad Wursten ( Dutch Brad ) or Carl Graham ( Donkin ) on this site. The 1097 Beachy is the father of the 664 and we all know how well the 1142 has done. I would love to be in your situation lol. Good luck.

Logan , i'm also growing the 664.5 Liggett next year. I'm down to three crosses, 1566 Rodonis (1450 Wallace x 1231 Pukos ) , 1232.5 Bailey (998.6 Pukos x 1407.3 Wolf ) or the 1134 Horton (1420.5 LaRue x 997 Girard ). the SOGPG weigh off is this weekend so I hope to get to ask Dr. Bob if any of these crosses would be a good choice ? And trust me I will take the doctors advice.

I used the 1100 Hestor this year as pollinator for the 664.5, now the 1313 Bowles '08

Bill,
The 1566 was the first cross which came to my mind as well. Dr. Bob was really interested in crossing it with an 898 a couple of years ago and obtained and germinated one, which I grew in my patch. Unfortunately, the plant was a monster, producing both sterile males and females. He crossed his 664.5 last year with an 1102 Sperry, which is heavy in 898, producing the 1368 Liggett.
I forwarded this post to him and look for him to respond.

Andy I looked at 1287 on Carl's diary makes very large nice looking pumpkins must be the 1097 in it because the 1142s are UGLY.
Bill I would be very very luck to get a 1566 Rodonis after what Steve Connolly has done with it, a pumpkin that could break the 1 ton mark only two years after the 1500 pound mark was broken, It,s amazing, He also crossed it with a 998... Hmm im willing to bet it will have some decent seeds also.

I would ask Mr. Liggett for another one of his Liggett seeds and make the cross Liggett X Liggett

Hi Dr. Bob,we have two computers and the "new one" doesn't want to send or accept e-mail right now. I don't know if you tried to e-mail me or not, I sent one to you last night and it was bounced back as undeliverable. Now I'm on the old machine and things seem to be working fine. When you get a moment, could you please e-mail me at this address and if it's not too much trouble could you also send it to [email protected] that's my work address and that way I'll be sure to get it. Thanks, Andy Hamilton ( Andy H )
