Interesting how the AP article states he "breaks the State record", but I feel it should be grown in the State to be a record. My opinion.. :)

Yeah, you never can trust the media on these things. Just use it as a guideline.
The local paper came out to do a story on me. I appreciated the notoriety for giant pumpkin growing in general, but as I read the actual story they put out, I was shocked at how incorrect it was. I examined that one story and counted 21 "statements of fact", within it. About three-fourths of them were just plain untrue. They even quoted me, as saying something I know for a fact I never said. At the moment I can't remember what it was, but it was simply something I would never say.
I believe, in the case of this situation in Elk Grove, it should say that it's a new Elk Grove record, not a California state record. But us giant pumpkin growers are the only one's who will care, and in the long run we'll set the record straight.

Here I have it easier, I write the article, edit the pictures, email them to the paper, and they publish them. DIY news coverage.... I seen that, rather a mess they did.

Nice pics Nick! For you color lovers, there's a couple of pics of pumpkin 47....it had awesome color...red/orange. If anyone knows what seed grew that beauty, I'd like to know.
