OK a long day at Cooperstown last Saturday after getting up at 4 am to get to the festival in time for registration in the rain. Needless to say with a pumpkin in the back, I was a nervous momma with her kid in the back seat, LOL. All was good at the festival, and had a great time catching up with everyone there even in the rain drops. It as a great time, and awesome watching a new squash record this year.
For a first trip up to Oswego, my pumpkin came in 11th place and very proud to place there, and have that pumpkin stay together. It was in question tho as we had to move the main vine a good distance back so it wouldn't snap off with an extremely short stem.
On the ride home, I had been reading posts about how the ride home is so awesome, well a few stories to share. How about seeing a camera lense pop out of a moving vehicle with the window down doing 70 mph taking pictures of my bird bath pumpkin on the back of the truck, SWEET! LOL... And a few questions like, is that a pumpkin and how much does it weigh? All good stuff.
Safe travels as the weigh offs are just getting under way for 2008. Good luck and may your fruit go heavy. And by all means, uncover that fruit on the way home for a wild ride!

After the weigh-off last year the pumpkins got loaded back on the trailer with less care then the trip there.. The trailer started fish tailing on the way home at 60mph on the highway. I almost lost 1066,988 and 500+. Traffic stayed way back... One more note to be careful. I'm loading them back up in the dump truck this year

Dragging main, 49F and two big ones on a flat car trailer, at 5 mph. Priceless! Enjoy the ride and the afterglow! Amen on getting to visit Coop, too far away for me.

Christine, the drive to and from the weigh off is a hoot. We had people with cell phones taking pictures and some even slowed down with their camera in hand. I had a sign with the weight on it. Once on our street, some kids were playing in the yard and one boy said, I saw that on the highway! The drive home was more relaxed espeically for my husband who drove.

I had a 3 1/2hr trip to Bear Wallow Farm in Nancy, Ky. The ride was great. Just don't stop anywhere!!! Curious people come from everywhere to find out what you have in the truck! I had a blast!!!
