In my table scrap compost pile I have some bugs,,,they look like maggots,,,,but HUGE! are these maggots? I could take some pix if needed.

there is a fly larve that is large like you are saying. I have some in mine also. I think they are black fly larve but cant remember. They wont hurt anything unless you are vermiposting then they will run the worms to the bottom. They supposedly really go to town on compost and speed it up but Im not sure how much. If I find the link about the larve I will post it here.

Post a picture. There are many different types of grub-like insect larvae. Some are not very nice. Others are not an issue at all.

We had the same thing in our compost bin this year. Found out that they were Soldier Fly larve. From what I've learned about them they are good for the compost because they eat the table scraps and break them down. I think they die off in the Winter.

soldier fly thats what I have in mine. They are more pointed at one end and kinda flat or oblong shaped and not round.
