Of the 1689's and 1631.5's being grown this year which do you think will do the best? (% over and/or biggest).

I really like that 1631 seed, I wanted to grow that seed almost as bad as I wanted to grow the 1068 Wallace, lol. But the 1631 only had a handful of seeds in it. I predict the McKies will grow there biggest pumpkin off that seed this year.

I also like how that 1689 has been growing pumpkins, alot of them have great shape and color, I also like the pumpkin Christy Harp is growing off her 1689, sure is purrrty!

But if I was to guess Id say the 1631 might go heavier?

We are growing both & there is about 6" difference in the ott. The 1689 is ahead of the 1631, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the 1631 weigh a bit heavier. Both are shaped differently, so it's hard to really judge which is bigger. Hopefully both will go heavy.

We crossed them into each other, both ways. I expect the resulting seeds to be great producers, just like the crossing of the 1st two 1400#ers.

The 1631 will be weighed this Saturday at the Pembroke Weigh off, while the 1689 will go to the Port Elgin weigh off the following weekend. That'll be the end of our season as we lost & cut up our only other pumpkin (1269# est) on Aug 31st.

Phil, when you get a chance, would you please email me. We have the exact same going here. They are going on the scale this week-end. Would be interested in hearing how yours are doing. Thank you, Chip Brunst, ([email protected])
