How do you get a field pumpkin to change from green to orange? Got some nice ones on the vine that won't turn and want them for carvers and display in front of the house.
Thanks

Cut them off and store them in your garage for a couple weeks. They will turn orange.

They will turn orange on the vine if given time.

Leave them uncovered exposed to the sun in the field and on the vine and they should turn orange. You still have a month or so before halloween... Mine are already about 90% orange, how old are the pumpkins?

The pumpkins are only about 30 days old - I believe they are still growing too. I have limited sun where they are located and I put them in late because I was properly focused on the AG's... I just can't stomach having buying a jack-o-lantern.

Alright all you people telling him to cut them off the vine stop. Leave them on the vine as long as possible. They last longer this way. They will turn here soon. If a heavy frost/freeze comes along then remove them from the vine. If they are for carving a little green will not matter
