we have all seen pumpkins that were polliated late June and cut mid October that were still growing. genetics could play a big part, day light hours also, and temp.It is my feeling that as the weights increase so will the number of days of growth. if we could control light and temp we may be able to keep them going 150 days or more

Gary, Most of the fruit in the 1000 and 1200 benchmark data base gain a few inches between day 80 & day 90. Some are still growing when harvested past day 90. There are two fruit that grew 10 and inches after day 90.

My 991 Urena is 87 days old and grew 3 inches over the past 4 days. I'm hoping it continues to grow for 12 more days.

My best one at this time is from the very first female flower to open on my 1075 Scherber (2007) on July 31st. It was manually pollinated using 3 males from same plant. I had no other open males on my other two vines on that early morning. I was too anxious and did not want to deprive that female of that moment.
This pumpkin has been measured about every third day lately and for the last month has shown a consistent 1" to 1.5" of circumference increase, per day, over these weeks. Last fert application was about 2 weeks ago and now it only gets water. No splits, no spots, no rot.
If I cut it off on October 3rd for a local weigh-off it will have had about 64 days of vine-time by then. My contribution is no threat to the other grower-masters who will brings their beasts to our weigh-off. This is my first year growing these, and doing so at 6,840ft. of elevation. I do not have an engineered structure above nor any automatic sprinkler or misting system. Our spring season dragged on with more clouds and cold than other years (due to Global Warming) and surely delayed the transplanting of my three vines.
I've got a few neighbors arranged to help me tarp-sling this one out of the patch and get it into my truck bed on a pallet. I need to secure it on the pallet somehow, and still will consider suggestions. Straps, rope, duct tape ?

The 1357 Poirier may have looked 225 days old but it was not! I will check my records and get with Mike to make a correction. I'll guess that she split on or around day 80. Sorry for the mistake.
