Does anyone know who this is? Are they for real? Or is it some scam artist trying to turn a quick buck so he did some research and now sits waiting for his victim?

By the posting , sounds like the guy has been growing for a while seeing how he has over a 1000 seeds, doesnt sound like a scam. Anyone have 300 bucks I can borrow? Ha!

who is it then? I would like to get my hands on the 998. But I don't think I would pay $300 for it. Actually if someone was to by this collection they would be paying 30 cents or less per seed!!

It has to be real, How would he know so much about the crosses if he was not a real pumpkin grower.

One of the things I have always found unbeleivable is how tight this little growing community is. The guy may have gotten his seeds for free from many of the great people in hear that want to share the same passion that they have for this crazy sport of growing. I cant help but be pizzed when someone trys to take advantage. it is totally different when u bid on here and support a pumpkin association or charity., I may be out of line...but in the past few years when I asked for seeds I had numerous people offer to help and when I received the seeds they were from some pretty awsome crosses. Anyway just venting !!!!!!!!! I hope all wont support unless itsw for charity or to help our BP community!!!!!!!cheers

If they guy was smart he would have posted here, that he was having the auction and explained more about it.

Nothing wrong with supporting yourself.
That is supposed to be the American way.

Yeah, I believe this is ok in todays world. Nothing wrong by my standards as long as the seeds can be verified. Andy seams to know who this chap is, so go for it.

Bignut, that 998 would go double and maybe triple that $300 at auction, with out a doubt!.

I wasn't saying that I approved, just that i'm sure I know who it is, and that it is a legit seed.

I would have loved to have had that seed back, I had to turn away quite a few requests and currently only have 2 in my possession.

Unfortunately, this will only serve to make me more careful with my seeds the next time I happen to have a seed in demand, and less than 60 seeds in that pumpkin.

ya brooks that is a little wierd. I myself was looking at ebay last night and looked at those seeds. You would think he would just post a message on here asking if anybody wants some seeds. Oh well.

It's funny how everyone is looking down on this, but someone that we all know will probably end up buying the seeds.

I just looked and see that the auction has been ended, and it says the item is no longer available for sale. I'm sure someone made an offer too good to refuse. I wonder who bought them?

Just my opinion:

If this is so okay and some folks know who it is,why
the mystery?

You can have it back, as you found me one last year,

Yes I have the seeds, out of the 20 some inquires for the seeds, the gentleman decided to send them to me, Money was NOT the deciding factor, and I have no doubt in my mind as to the seeds being real.
Truth of the matter is, I was interested in some very old genetics in the mix.
And please, the 998 and 1231 already have homes.

Hi
For what my two cents is worth. Growers like Andy, etc., have been great in sending me great seed. Iam not the world's best grower, but they do hit the soil.
A gift should be returned or given to a club to help a charity or cllub..
Just my thoughts.

UnkaDan

I second that bill, nothing against eddy buying them since he probably has most already going to growers for nothing in return, but I know at least one club contacted the seller asking for a price in order to resell the seeds at auction this winter. (with the growers to be contacted for approval)

You know what, this happens way more than anyone thinks, I personally know of at least 20 collections that have been sold, Now if we include the single seed sales, it's staggering. I would guess I have had a minimum of 50 seed requests last year alone, wanting to buy seeds. I don't, and that is my opinion.
Now as for the price on this, Trust me, he could have done way better, than sending them my way. Now there were 22 other offers on this bunch, besides mine, so obviously there was interest. And there will be next time, and on and on.

The auction ended with no bids???

I messaged the seller & he was the real deal. That 998 was worth double the minimum bid.

I don't get it.

He might want to relist in a month or two when seed fever hits..

If you read a few posts up, the auction was ended early and the seeds are going to the Iceman. I'm sure the seeds will be in good hands.
