How long is it ok to leave wet towels on a pumpkin or should this be totally avoided? I have been covering fruit with cooler temps but worry that damp or wet towels from rain might cause the outside surface of pumpkin to start to weaken or rot? Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bumkin

This time of year I take the covers off during the day time and put them on at night. If its raining over night, I don't put them back on. One they get heavy and I don't want that extra weight laying on the pumpkin. Two they aren't going to stay warm anyway when the cover is soaked too.
