Pumpkin Picker (Orange Only)

So I went outside yesterday after work to find some animal decided to make my pumpkin into a breakfast sampler platter.

anyways I have about 7 areas on the pumpkin that are chewed up, the areas are about 1 inch square by about 1/2 inch deep each. I cleaned the wounds with alcohol, and applied daconil fungicide to it, The pumpkin is tarped so it will stay dry.

I don't have any experience with wounds this big, Is the pumpkin even capable of healing wounds this deep?

Should I leave it to open air dry and keep reapplying the fungicide?

Should I Clean the woulds up really good and latex them and check them periodically to confirm they are not getting worse?

Any input is greatly appreciated, Thanks a lot!

I have huge chunks taken out of my one 550lb pumpkin. They will dry and should not be a problem.

Yep, just keep dry, maybe throw some Captan on there, you should be fine. I don't think caulk is necessary.

Let it air dry with fungicide and you should be OK. You can see one on my diary that survived a real bad attack and will be a personal best if it makes it to weighoff intact.

At this time of the year, you're probably OK. If this were mid-year, maybe not. Impurities like to set in on wounds like this, and eventually cause the insides to rot. But if you only have a few weeks to go, that might not be enough time for the impurities to do their damage.
