I lost one to a split, if I leave it on the vine for a few more days will that help the seeds develop more? Poll on July 18th = 54 days

Seeds should already be good to go after 30-40 days I believe.

Brent,
With a slpit, there is air inside the pumpkin and it is probably starting to rot. If you wait too long, the seeds may be affected. If the pumpkin was a cross you like, I would get the seeds out soon.

In my opinion get the seeds out now. I had one that split under the pumpkin and I only found out when there was rot comming through the skin. When I opened it up it had alot of mold all over the inside.
