I have been thinking! What a scary thing!!!!! I have two pumpkins that have totally shut down. Should I cut them off and store them and give twenty something or thirty something days to allow another fruit to grow? I am just looking to beat my neighbors! Who might I add do not grow pumpkins? So if I have a BUNCH of biggies, I win? Seriously though! I am willing to let my generic HOME DEPOT seed produce another 100+#er. Since the fruit on this plant has shut down, would growing another be a bad start now?

Crazy question but is it still throwing out males and females? If so you might as well go for it.

The question is will they last that long off the vine (I have no idea)...

I would suggest leaving the big fruit on there as long as possible as the season is winding down i dont think another pumpkin would amount to much.

It is still throwing up males and females. I have another started on each plant already. The bees took care of the pollination for me. I figured that since the other two pretty much stopped, I would let these stay on the vine. They are on day 10 today, so I a going to measure them up and see how the #'s compare to my day 10 #'s from the other two. I just like to get things to go above normal size. A few weeks ago I noticed a zucchini in my regular garden that I failed to pick before it got too big. So for the love of things big, I left it to go as long as possible. It has to be pushing 15lbs. by now. BIG IS GOOD!
