I have been putting some blankets on the pumpkins during last weeks cooler nights. One seems to be a "sweater". Is that a good thing or bad?

If the pumpkin ties it around it;s waist, it could be a preppy pumpkin...

I think if she is sweating at night, you should probably chop it up and make it compost as fast as you can.. It cant be any good...

Pumpkins must be out of shape...I recommend put them on a diet and daily exercise. Make sure they drink a lot of water...don't want to get dehydrated. Mark

Thanks for the tip Rock. One is moaning and the other is a sweater. I will have to wait and hear which weigh off you are going to so I can decide which one of these classy ladies has had enough dancing.

it is normal honestly, if you put more blankets on your pumpkin, the more condensation you will have on your pumpkin in the morning. every morning my kin's have at least a Qourter cup of conden on them so i say it'll be fine.

Mellow.. Ned and I banter all the time.. He knows my suggestion of chopping it up is a joke.. We are a low key version of Iceman and the Bizwhiz scenario.

Ned, Rock is having computer problems right now and wanted me to pass the word.
Rock told me to tell you to cut a small 1/2 inch hole about 5 inches deep, then take 1/2 inch PVC pipe and insert into the hole and connect a valve . At night before you go to bed turn the valve on to let the water out, this will keep it from sweating and preventing you from changing the sheets on your pumpkin all the time. lol

THx for passing the word on Brooks!! I am back online now and have so much more helpful info for the Honesdale Hoss and his Dyberry partner... Here are some other helpful hints to stop the sweating...

Find Goretex sheets... It wicks the moisture away from the fruit..

Use an antiperspirant such as Old Spice.. or Secret.. Strong enough for a 1000 pound pumpkin... but made for a 600 pounder..

There is a surgery now to have those sweat glands removed... I think the operation is similar to what Brooks described earlier but I am not sure..

Lastly.. To reduce sweating you should put your pumpkin on a diet.. Have your pumpkins lose some weight.. THose overweight fruits can really leave perspiration marks on your sheets, and we all know how expensive those sheets can be.

Good tips guys, but be gentle. The sweater is not the proven 998 Pukos. That seed has been here before. The sweater is my unproven 845. She is pale white and shy and a little nervous about this being her first time. She has not even been out from under the covers all season long. So a little sweating down the stretch here is probably normal. She needs a hug.

Hey Rock..should I use stick or spray antiperspirant. I think the spray might be easier. Mark

I guess it is a matter of preference.. I like to use the spray, it dries quicker...
