Anyone have a lifting ring that they bought from P&P? I'm curious to know what size of clevis you would need to lift a pumpkin that is close to a 1000 lbs. Any other info on the lifting ring set-up from this company would be appreciated.
Thank you, Mark G.

I am also interested in any links to commercially available lifting rings. What is P&P? I didn't find them with a google search. Anyone have any information on purchasing lifting rings. Also, any recommendations on the straps that are used underneath and along the sides of the pumpkins.

Are you talking about the lifting sling P&P sells? If P&P sells a lifting ring I haven't seen it before. The sling they sell works fine. I don't really see the need for a ring but I'm sure many will disagree. I use a piece of 1.5" square steel tubing that I lay across the forks when lifting with a forklift. I have three holes drilled in it, one on each end and one in the middle. The holes are used to attach lifting hooks to the tubing and they keep the tubing from possibly sliding side-to-side on the forks. If you're lifting using a tripod attaching the loops, at the ends of the arms of the sling, to the hook on the chain hoist seems to work just fine.

Hi, they have a lot at tractor supply. the 1/2" one is rated at 6500 lbs. you will need one big enough to get your slings in or what ever is at the top of your lifter. i would be careful of one if it comes from china, some of them are very cheap and may not be strong. doug jn. 3:16

The lifting straps from P&P work fine. As for the clevis, the bigger the better to put the straps on. I bought the biggest my hardware store had, it is rated well over a 1000lbs.
FYI - the web site is pandpseed.com

Any big clevis with metal width of an inch or more is going to suit you just fine. Just find a farm and ranch store, Tractor Supply, around here it's "Cal-Stores". If the clevis is really TOO big, then you'll reduce the overall height that you can lift the pumpkin (by a few inches) and that might make or break your situation if it's a tight fit getting it on the truck.
If you're an optimist, get one for 2000 pounds or more. ;-)
In my opinion, a ring doesn't really buy you anything meaningful in avoiding stress on the pumpkin. Rather, a ring is very handy in keeping all of the straps straight and organized when you are loading and unloading one pumpkin after another.

BB, it's a big "U"-shaped piece of metal with a straight piece of metal at the top of the "U" that allows you to lift things. Hope this helps out.
