So went out to check on the pumpkin this morning, and I noticed a small crack near the stem, with ooze around it. Take a look at the photo. Am I done for the year?

It rained for the past couple weeks, and is now sunny and much cooler with night temps into the upper 40's. The rest of the pumpkin looks fine, just this problem near the stem. Any advice, or just pull it and weigh it?
Thanks! PumpkiNate

No, that kind of oozing is typical when you get growth spurt with temperature changes. I would whipe off the drips and treat with a fungicide an fan would help dry it up.

I did not see it but I had a longitudinal split (stem to blossom) about a foot long that healed. I packed it with Captan (nasty stuff)and kept it dry.

Thanks for the tips. I did a little more research here about oozing, and am happy to realize my pumpkin might still have a few pounds left to gain.
