4-5 PLANTS INSTEAD OF 8
Vine Management with Fruit placement in mind. I saw my 1st couple patchesother than mine, and noticed elegant plants. Vines layed out with leaves having their own space. This seemed to keep the leaves at a manageable height. I tried to keep almost all of my secondaries, which created a dense jungle. Some leaves measured 5' tall. I ended up cutting out at least 1/2 of my plants just to get to the kins. When I did, the taller they were the harder they fell.
Set up a watering system. I finally have GREAT water pressure in the patch!!!!!
Clean and care for the pumpkin from the time of pollenation. I didn't pay much attention to the fruit until they were at least Basketball size, and have been culling 60 - 120 lb fruit due to some white rot.
This is part of the list

My garden is on a native american gravesite, I plan on bringing in a medicine doctor and have him sprinkle around what ever herb, roots, pine needles he needs to so my pumpkins grow right. (joking)

Looking for someone to give me shit, and lots of it! Lots more watering! All plants are competition (we tried growing some just for smaller carving fruit...to say those plants are in the weeds is an understatement.) Forget the eating garden...buy veggies at the store (lol)

Don't use the Sevin, Merit, Warrior, etc.. like I did this year surround the patch with nylon netting. Good results this year... 99% insect protection and no diseases.

As soon as my patch is cleared... soil test and amend the bleepers out of it and sow my cover crop [well composted manure, worm castings, leaf mold compost, I want buku organics]. (I will be laid up for a week getting all those steel fence posts out). Spring, 'grow house frame' which starts with hoop house at the stump sites and continues into the thing that holds up the shade cloth, misters and overhead water. AND the sensors. More care in vine training. More attention to can *I* get my heinie through there. Windbreak Windbreak Windbreak (what made my season compared to others here). More regular tea brewing, kelp and humic squirting, and feed that vine. Weed control will be a lot higher on my list. Replacing the water hydrant AND putting in a second one a lot closer to the patch. Wiring 'to patch and in patch' lighting for those 2 am visits. Auto timing watering. Growing my crosses (1450x1502 Wallace and a 1502x1450 Wallace) [1018 Langevin X 1009 Young]. Getting ahead of the SVB season. Grow more garlic!
