Hello. This is my first year growing giants. One question, my largest pumpkin is 'soft'. When I press on it it indents. Is this a bad sign or is this normal? The color of the pumpkin is yellow just turning orangish. Thanks!

Fab, Just a couple of question. On how old is your pumpkin. If it is yellow then its still pretty young. And when there yellow the skin is very very tender and soft. Just be careful how hard you push on a yellow pump. I pretty sure its just not mature yet.

The pumpkin is about 2 months old. I have been covering it at night with a towel/sheet and keeping the sheet on most of the day so the sun won't get to it. I thought the problem with it being soft might be because I'm covering it?
I am located in the town of niagara.
