A groundhog somehow made it inside my fence and gnawed one of my pumpkins. It ate about a 4inch by 4inch area around 1/2 inch deep. I dusted the area with Captan. Anything else? Thanks

I would try dusting the area with lead shot.
A serious animal repellent is in order otherwise.

Rde fox urine will keep ground hogs away. Electric fences work. .22 magnum hollow points end things quickly. Painting the wound with straight daconil will help. It saved my best pumpkin from the same kind of attack earlier this year.

The groundhog has been taken care of. My question was more towards saving the pumpkin. Thanks for the suggestions.
