Thinking of a way to water this beast next year.Would this plan werk? Could I take the water from my washing machine,, store in 55 gallon barrels,,,buy a pump and have like 2 or 3 in-line filters and use this to water my pumpkin? I have a creek 150-200 yards away but cant think of a cheap way to tap it.Plus I have a road inbetween the patch and the creek.we dont get very much rain at all.Trying to save money on the water bill but would be best for my pumpkin.(My wife washes clothes almost every day)

What you describe is known as "gray water irrigation". Try googling that phrase to avoid potential pitfalls.

Hi. People are starting to use "grey water" over here in the uk. It`s ok to use in the garden although there are a number of issues which might have implications for pumpkin growing. You should consider these before making your decision. Check out this link for more info
Thanks
Peter.

Tap the creek, if you legally can. A $200 5 horsepower gas powered pump will drain your creek dry and yes, it will move water 200 yards and then some.

Ive been thinking more about this.My patch will be right beside the window where the washing machine is.Iam thinking about having the hose come out the window in to a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out and a pillow case to catch the big trash, then drop in to a 55 gallon drum, from there will go into a 5 micron filter then into a 1 micron filter then into another 55 gallon holding drum. These filters are to remove 99% of all the bad stuff in the water.

How expensive are the filters, seems you would go through a lot of them unless you could wash and reuse them. On the other hand you would have to buy gas for a pump, or buy an electric one.
