could anyone reccomend a seed that would give me a pumpkin with a longer base instead of the one i have now its base wide and its not very long.

Try to pick a pumpkin on a plant with a long shape..set 3 kins on your plant 12 ft out or more on the main and look at their shapes..they should differ slightly and choose the one that looks the longest. Why would you want a long one...should just choose the fastest growing one and off to the races...its all a crap shoot anyways...

Glad to see I am not the only one trying to pick seeds for next year already. Al my kins are still going. slow, but still going. I figured I would like to get a list going and then take a look at this years results and see if I can come up with a decision. it is a good thing that so many people put together information and actually share it. pumpkin growers are definitely a different breed. i know that hunters don't give out info on hotspots like the growers on this site give out info about good seds and growing practices. kudos to all on this site.
