I'm trying to find a 898 Knauss seed. Is Mr. Knauss still growing? does anyone know what his name is here at BigPumpkins.

Are you kidding,,did you see the way Brooks B. went after the 1068 Wallace, the determination..I'm not about to stop after just one posting. How about 1007 Brown 2000 & 1048 Cox 2000, I'll make my own 898 Knauss.

As far as I know Len has not grown in a few years and as far as I know he has long been out of the 898. He is a generous man who I believe has given all of the ones that he had in his reserve away. He does not post on this site. I think a selfed seed would be better than the remake but that is only my 2 cents.

You might be right, a selfed seed instead of a remake, I have to look into it more.

I have both the Cox and Brown seeds and considered doing the same cross as the 898, but now am thinking I should use them to bring older genetics into newer ones.

I had the 1005 Mombert and 1097 Beachy this year to do the same cross as the 664.5 Liggett, but the 1097 failed to germinate. Instead, I crossed the 1005 with the 893 Privitera(998 x 1068). Both are magnificent pumpkins and grow on secondary vines due to some early season weather problems. The 893 is a carbon copy of Joe's 1689 and, with luck, has a chance to make 1k.
