Subject: Keeping a pumpkin after done growing?

AFter a pumpkin has finished growing for the year, what necessary precautions are to be made tin order to keep this thing rotting until the weighoff/halloween?
just keep it on the vine in he patch?

ron jeremy if the plant and pumpkin look healthy then by all means keep it hooked up and lightly watered say once every ten days, just to keep the soil healthy. it will last that way until the cold nights take over in a couple weeks. then cover with blanket at night or pick and put on a pallet in the garage where its cool pap
