To all the growers out there (specifically those in the Northeast): you are invited to bring your pumpkin to the Durham Fair located in Durham, CT. All shapes, sizes and weights are encouraged to be put on display. Also, this year the Durham Fair is a premium level GPC site.
The weigh-off occurs on Wednesday Sept. 24th from 3pm-9pm, and while registration is free, you must pre-register. Go to www.Team-Pumpkin.org and then open the “In the Patch NOW” section, and at the bottom of the page you will find some important information. Be sure to also look at www.DurhamFair.com for rules, prize structure, and to see what else is going on other than giant pumpkins.
If you live in the area and want to stop by, it is a great time to meet some of the best growers around. The Durham Fair runs Sept. 26th - 28th.
Hope everyone is busy tending to growing pumpkins.

Mine is really ugly with a big healed split. I may not make the minimum weight as it has been a bad year.

I was reading in the rules that no previously weighed fruit can be entered. Does that mean if you were weighed in at another event, you are not able to submit your entry?

I just went to the GPC website and found a misprint. I think! It has the weighoff for durham listed for the 24th of september and cooperstown, NY the 27th. I thought it was the other "WEIGH" around!!!

Rob T: There is only one way to find out if you make the minimum weight of 100lb, and that is bring it to the weigh-off.
BIG24NUT: If your pumpkin had been weighed at another event you can still enter your pumpkin but it will be for exhibition only. Meaning display only, so you will not be eligible for prize money or a ribbon. However you are still encouraged to attend so that the fair goers can see your pumpkin.
If anyone else has questions just let me know.

Matt, Thanks for the clarity. I was thinking about Cooperstown, but I am not sure where I will go. I am hoping to just get one that I can be proud of displaying. This weather is killing me. To make it easier on anyone that responds to me, you can type Nick. BIG24NUT can be a pain in the ass to type sometimes.

The form is used for both giant pumpkins of all colors and also long gourds if you grew them.
Use 'class # A' for giant pumpkins with name or description of exhibit as 'giant pumpkin" Use 'class # B' for long gourds with name or description of exhibit as 'long gourd'

Matt, I may come down anyway with or without it. I was planning to bring my new world record 2K to the Big E. Now it looks like I may not see 400. Things change, especially in the patch. Last year I found out that half the world was in Durham. Let me check the site and see if I can get there. I would love to see everyone and talk dirt and seeds, and insects and....
